Location:Harleysville, Pennsylvania When Colorcon decided to relocate their global headquarters to a new site just outside Philadelphia in Harleysville, Pennsylvania, they chose to do so in sustainable manner and pursue a LEED Gold certification. McCloskey and Faber assisted with site layout, landscape plans, construction documentation, site lighting design, construction administration and a green roof design. In April 2010, Colorcon received it Gold LEED certification. The green roof design was managed by our own Chris Isenberg, RLA, a certified Green Roof Professional and incorporated an intensive green roof design with trees, shrubs and perennials in a series of raised planting beds. The planting beds are irrigated using rain water collected from the roof which reduces storm water runoff. Pedestrian areas are paved with unit pavers on a pedestal system with groupings of benches, seating and tables for congregation. Visit the Greenroof Projects Database for more information on the project. |
