Location:Horsham, Pennsylvania

The Horsham Township Library  is a 25,000 SF  public  facility situated on a one acre tract in a growing community just outside Philadelphia, PA. The planning  process  was a synergy of design professionals, library committee representatives, community leaders and members of the public. The landscape design was developed to enhance the building and community. The result was the creation of learning spaces both inside and outside the facility as well as a planned civic plaza within the entrance circle for outdoor art exhibits and other public uses.

Planting design expanded beyond the traditional building foundation, parking lot and street tree landscaping. The stormwater  management  facilities are part of a "Best Management Practice" (BMP) program. BMP’s installed within the Library site include bio-swales in the parking islands,  a  large multi-chambered bio-detention (basin) area and warm season grass meadow areas, each  feature with its own challenges  in terms of plant specification.

McCloskey and Faber worked closely with the design team and contractors during the construction phase.   Construction phase work included plant tagging and stake out,  planting design adjustments based on construction timing, as well as  periodic installation reviews.
